Seriously OT: Tal is not for all

Post by talasiga »

I think I have been here nearly a year now and as you will see my name is "talasiga" which is pronounced "talasinger" (a Fijian word for the dry grass country).

Now, certain members here have taken it upon themselves to play about with my name and morphing it into all sorts of nicknames and so on. I do not appreciate this unless it is done in an endearing way.

For instance, DJM is my pal
and I don't mind him calling me Tal.

But that doesn't mean every Tom, Dick and Harry can call me that.
You have to earn the privilege and I will be the arbiter of who can and who can't nickname me.

For instance, Whistling Dixie calls me Tal
But then she's a really nice gal.

But that doesn't mean every beautiful Tina, Donna and Heidi can call me that. You have to earn the privilege and I will be the arbiter of who can and who can't nickname me.

You will note in this topic here
that Doug Tipple objected to me calling him Duggy Wuggy and I don't blame him because I am not a child. But in return, Mr Tipple must n'er err and call me Tal.

There you go. Anyone wishing to know how they stand with me can PM me or post your query here.

Cripes. And all this time I've been labouring under the impression it was pronounced "pretentious onanist."

That would indeed be a difficult labour. And fancy being pregnant with such a presumption! My sympathies.

Welcome back Gary...

Absolute sh*t is the term I would use.

I think its really clever having a Yeats quote in your signature
It makes up for the deficiency in your posts.

Now I see why you correlated my name to pretentious onanism.
Most of what I say goes over your head and naturally you look below my belt. When you see nothing happening there you deem the noises I was making pretension. And so it goes.
