Naked or Barky?
I imagine most of you have seen the thread on Vitek Kasparik's Elderflower whistles. I was just wondering which style people prefered -- bark or no bark? Or maybe you don't like the style at all? I think they're pretty darn cool.

Barking mad.
I think the whistle without Bark will have more BITE.
Or am I barking up the wrong tree?
p.s.: Does he make Uilleann Pipes like that to?

I'd like to see that! That would make learning the pipes even rougher.kevin m. wrote:Does he make Uilleann Pipes like that to?

They are pretty neat looking. I'd like to see one with a tuning slide as well. Now a set of 'bark-on' UPs would be absolutely funky looking, but I imagine they would be a little tricky to make...you know...finding just the right diameter stick for the chanter et all. I suppose for the key mounts one could use a modified Taylor design.

- Tell us something.: I play whistles. I sell whistles. This seems just a BIT excessive to the cause. A sentence or two is WAY less than 100 characters.

- Tell us something.: I love Irish music! I am mostly a whistle player but would like to learn more about flutes. I also have a couple older whistles I'd like to sell and maybe pick up a bamboo flute to practice with.

Sorry, but the "barky" one just reminds me entirely too much of the tacky so-called "rustic handicrafts" sold to stupid tourists up here out in the sticks.
The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. They don't alter their views to fit the facts. They alter the facts to fit their views. Which can be uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering.
