A tune to try instead of talkin' bollox

Post by boyd »

I've taken the notion that there's too much pissing around and pissing others off on this board [or is it just me?!].....

so now for something completely different....some music

I've taken the melody from a Martynn Bennett bagpipe tune called "Sheep Runnin' About" and messed with it to come up with something on the simple side for us pipers, whistlers and flautists. I've called it "Half A Sheep Runnin' About" as its only a 2 part reel instead of the original's 4 part. I've also come up with a cool 4part version for the uilleann pipes, but hey, we all gotta have a secret or two. :D
Anyway, it's a catchy tune and bound to impress if you play it on your own, as no-one else will be playing it. Make sure you cran all the E3's now

Holy mackerel, Boyd - what are you trying to do - turn this into a board about uillean piping and IrTrad music?

:boggle:

Stay tuned,

BrianC

PS: I'll give that a try this weekend - I've been neglecting the pipes for the past few weeks due to work and a new arrival in our home. Will let you know.
Thanks!

That's a really good tune, Boyd. Good on ya for learning it on UPs.

...I think I'll just stick to playing it on the Highland pipes though.

No, its not just you. Lets all go play the pipes for a while.

I plan to give it a try this weekend.

Could you or someone post a clip of how it should sound? I listened to the midi, but that doesnt really capture the feel of the music if you know what I mean.

Cheers, Gary
