$5400 Raffle - What a great community! :)

Post by JessieK »

Everything is in the last stages of being worked out. Jerry will soon receive the last installment, lots of prizes are or will soon be in transit to their new owners, there is less work each day. What a great community!

:)
--------------
There were some charges (PayPal, wire transfer, etc.) that I am taking off the top, and I am keeping $100 to offset some of the postage charges (I had no idea there would be SO MANY donations), so we are actually giving Jerry $5400!! :) :) :)

I have spent the morning going through the lists of prizes in chosen order and assigning prizes to all the winners. It has been very interesting, as there were SO MANY different orderings of choices. Because of this, some people into the 30s and 40s (of tickets chosen) received something as high as their third choice of prize. Very cool. The order in which the prizes were chosen is not the order in which I would have chosen them...it goes to show that everyone is different in what they like. :)

A few people didn't get in touch with me, so they lost their choice and were awarded what was left. Since they didn't get in touch with me, I have posted e-mail addresses (with some letters omitted), because I do not have their names.

I have some of the prizes here and will ship them out sometime in the next week (with the baby, I am very busy, so I have to wait until my mom comes here to do the packing and shipping for me), and I will get in touch with the holders of all the other prizes with the winners' addresses (sometime in the next day or two) so they can ship the prizes to the winners.

Thank you, everyone, for your generous support of Jerry and this endeavor!

--------------------------Old Stuff, now outdated:

We have a total of 541 tickets sold and 62 prizes! The drawing is today. The winners will be notified sometime today and when everything is sorted out (about 3 days from now), I will post a list to the community. Thank you all for your generous support. :)

Talbert St. Claire has offered to ship his Low whistle CD, Tears of the Forest - http://www.talbertstclaire.com/cd.asp - to the first 150 people to purchase one or more raffle tickets and then claim his or her CD! Those who wish to receive one would be responsible for Talbert's shipping cost only, which is 95 cents in the US and $5 internationally. He accepts PayPal on his site. I send out a confirmation e-mail to anyone who purchases a ticket. After purchasing a ticket, you must forward my confirmation e-mail to Talbert when you request a free CD. Contact Talbert at - talbert@[REMOVE]talbertstclaire.com - directly (Remove the "[REMOVE]" part). He will let you know when the 150 have been claimed. Last I heard, there were 60 CDs remaining. Thanks, Talbert, for the generous offer.

(The updated list of instruments is at the bottom of this post.)

Our beloved tweaker Jerry Freeman's wife has just had serious heart surgery. She is the primary breadwinner in their (large) family, and he is concerned about how they will get through her recovery time. We can help!

I am running a raffle to benefit Jerry and his family. I will contribute a few instruments and my time. I will update everyone with the details as they become available. If anyone wishes to donate instruments or anything to this endeavor, please contact me. jessiefish@[REMOVESPAMBLOCKER]email.com Also - please let me know if you would like to be indentified as the giver of the prize donation(s). You can choose if you want to ship the prizes(s) to me or to the winner(s), but I would prefer if you ship directly to the winner(s).

After everyone has been picked and the stuff has been sorted through (when we know who is getting what), I will announce the winners.

Each ticket will cost $10 by check or $10.50 for those who want to use PayPal (I exceeded my quota for a personal PayPal account and had to switch to a business account) - send payment to my e-mail address, jessiefish@[REMOVESPAMBLOCKER]email.com . That means omit the "[REMOVESPAMBLOCKER]" part. I can also accomodate non-PayPal credit card payments for the same $10.50. Please send your (Visa or MC) card number and expiration date in e-mail (two separate ones if you are concerned about safety). I have an infant and would prefer not to receive phone calls. If you want to send a check (made out to Jessie Driscoll), my mailing address can be found at [link removed]. Please put your e-mail address somewhere in the envelope.

ATTN: I am saving e-mail addresses of everyone who buys one or more tickets or makes a donation, NOT entire names and addresses...there are too many. If you have a SPAM filter, please modify it to accept my e-mail address.

People are encouraged to purchase as many chances as they want. I will make a paper ticket for each entry and have someone pick tickets on May 1st. The first name chosen will be allowed to choose his or her prize from the ones available. And so on until all raffle prizes are chosen and given away.

So, please get back to me ASAP with instrument or other donations so I can post a list to the community (and Dale can hopefully get it out to the masses).

Feel free to start purchasing tickets ($10 by check and $10.50 PayPal or credit card payment by phone).

~Jessie

you're the best, jessie, I unfortunately haven't got any instruments i could raffle away, but, if this is in any way acceptable, how about a money donation?

Yes, money donations will also be accepted, of course. Use one of the PayPal addresses I mentioned (order tickets) and I hope to give Jerry a huge check when this is done!

I've updated the original post in this thread.

This is a good thing. I'll donate an instrument, details TBA.

I'll put something in the next newsletter, scheduled to be sent out on or about April 3.

Tell us something.: I used to be a regular then I took up the bassoon. Bassoons don't have a lot of chiff. Not really, I have always been a drummer, and my C&F years were when I was a little tired of the drums. Now I'm back playing drums. I mist the C&F years, though.

Ok...maybe more than two, but I'll have help here, so I'll get to it in a timely fashion. :)

For a moment I wondered which event Jessie was considering postponing!

Tell us something.: I play whistles. I sell whistles. This seems just a BIT excessive to the cause. A sentence or two is WAY less than 100 characters.

From my observations of Jessie and her dedication to things like this my first thought was that she would hold off the delivery.

That is what you meant, right? :o

Email on the way, Jessie. Susato Kildare Low D added to the mix.

OK, all you manufacturers and retailers, I challenge each of you to add at least one whistle or item to the box!
