My Casey Burns Boxwood Rudall

Post by sbfluter »

Here are a couple of photos of my new (to me) Casey Burns Boxwood Rudall. I LOVE this flute.

Here you can see the glowing orange undertones of the beautiful boxwood in the end cap:

Here's the entire flute:

Here you can see the wood grain and one of the three little knots. I like these kinds of imperfections:

I love how easy it is to play and the clear, sweet tone.

Here's a link to the set where I have all the photos I took of this flute: http://flickr.com/photos/dianesoini/tags/boxwood/

Here's a clip: Smash the Windows Remember, I am a beginner. My relative skill should not reflect poorly on the flute in any way! It's a fabulous instrument.

Jon, that's not fair! Very pretty, though - the velvet curtain, I mean (NOT!) :D . Can't let you get away with not telling us what they all are, though.

Since I mentioned on another thread that I would post some pics of my late C19th (1856-1912 bracket for form of the firm's name) 12-key with low B foot by Fratelli e Cugino Rampone of Milan, here they are. I'm sorry they aren't all crisply in focus - they are done with my 3mp phone-cam and my patience doesn't always extend to getting them all spot on - nor my deficient vision!

EDIT: Oh yeah, and just to grunge folk off a bit, I paid £120-ish incl P&P for it off eBay in September 2006. I'd guess from its looks most viewers just dismissed it as another "Nach Meyer". Just goes to show!

And here is a clip of it playing to accompany a perusal - Lord Inchiquin

I've had one person contact me to say that the pictures I've posted in the previous entry are not visible to him - please could anyone else viewing this thread let me know if they can see them OK? I'm using a host service I haven't used before due to upload difficulties with my former host - and the pics show fine for me, but if more than one or two folk are finding problems, I'll have to reconsider.......

They work fine for me here. Lovely flute! Are the low keys pewter plugs?

Thanks guys. Guess that deals with that issue.

Yes, the low C#, C and B keys have pewter plugs - not very common on German (in the broadest sense of the term - this is a German looking, Italian version of an Austrian design..... :o) style flutes - guess the Italians must have liked them. They are rather fun with their little "coolies hat" German Silver tops - and they work very well too, and are less clacky than many pewter-plug keys (like my R&R's!).
