pipecase

Could somebody please give me a link or a hint to a lighter wooden pipecase (for a full set)? The search led to nothing.

"lighter" and "wooden"? I think that this is an oxymoron. Try a lightweight aluminum or plastic gun gase at a gun store or outlet. Many of these online.

Wood is a must. I got this case of bright plywood and might like another one but dunno any more where I got it from.

A friend of mine bought a Pipe Major's Case like those sold at Song of the Sea. He striped the black vinyl cover from the outside. It's plywood beneath. He sanded and stained it. It looks pretty good.

If you're looking for wooden construction, not necessarily visible wood outside (wasn't sure what you were exactly looking for), many viola cases are made of a plywood shell, covered with a durable material (called "cordura"). Many viola cases can also be modified to hold a full set of pipes (would need to be broken down).

Looks like the ones that Seth Gallegher sells. I have one and it is not exactly light.

This pro-tec viola case is light and compact. It will accommodate a Gallagher D set or an Angus B set. You just need to remove the internal parts.

Definitely NOT the one Seth Gallagher sells. A quick browse through their E-Bay stores reveals lots of stuff (including various bagpipes) from South Asia; make of that what you will. Caveat emptor!
