Murphy Roche Irish Music Club will be hosting a "slow session" for learners of all levels, Wednesdays, 7:30 PM, beginning May 5, 2004.
Here's more information:

For directions to the Kerry Piper:

These are open sessions, free, no registration needed.
If you're in the Chicago area, this is a great opportunity not only to learn the tunes and how to play in authentic Irish style, but also to get involved with a very friendly group of musicians. See you there?

Yes. Hopefully it will blend smoothly into the "real" session, which really tends to get started around 8:30, so i expect we'll have more like 45 minutes of slowness.

have you been playing much with Erin O'Brien?

Also, just to give credit to the right person, this slow session is the work of Tony O'Connell, our infatigable and certifiably Irish (or is it just certifiable?) button accordion player.

They were there at the K.P. once (at least once when i was also there). I was happy to see the Cotter, a mirror image of mine. Much better played than mine, though. They did some great flute/whistle duets. I haven't seen them since; they may have got attached to one of the many high-level sessions in Chicago.
