Martin preshaw makes great union pipes and some of the top players are playing his pipes and as can be seen in this vid everything is hand made in the traditional way.

Crikey didn't realise this forum was still going.... yeah I'm still trying to arrive at a decent B/Bb chanter without straight copying the work of others. My current attempts play well enough but not good enough for my personal preferences. Have nice B/Bb drones though...FlaminGalah wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 3:06 am David Goldsworthy is I think only doing flat half sets so far.

Is that not what ever other pipemaker is doing?

- Tell us something.: John McSherry total control, Davy Spillane tonal beauty, and Finbar Furey raw energy. Imagine them combined :)

A bit late reply, but Tom Aebi can make a wonderful-sounding C or Bb chanter in modern pitch.
I would always prefer to have great-sounding chanter or a half set instead of a mediocre full set.
