I wouldn't take it. Word is that it needs extensive renovations since the last party...Seamie wrote:and the keys to Barad Dur.

Re: K&Q Concert Pitch Set
Is this the same set that was once owned by the excellent piper Lewis Blevins?
I understand it's a wonderful set of pipes.
Best of luck with the sale.

Re: K&Q Concert Pitch Set
I was indeed the prior owner of the set.
Dave Boling....I made absolutely NO alterations to the set whatsoever! You should not comment on things that you know nothing about. If someone is spreading rumors let me know whop they may be as I'll take it up with them personally. I WILL NOT tolerate such lunacy.
I sold it to Ron in excellent condition. Better condition than when I purchased the pipes.
The truth of the matter is that the set had to go back to the workshop several times for various and sundry issues but the makers were able to correct their manufacturing issues that were a nuisance (i.e., used a black wax of sorts to seat the ferrules on the drones and the humidity in CA swelled the wax and pushed the ferrules but this was remedied by the usual way to seat the ferrules) and not in any way related to the playability or tone of the set.
It's a mighty fine set of pipes and the new owner has a golden set that will last a lifetime.....or as long as the maker plays pipes.
Enough said, I'm off to play the Northumbrian Smallpipes.

Re: K&Q Concert Pitch Set
Probably the best example of grabbing the wrong end of the stick I have ever seen, well as least on the forum anyway. Glands, you owe Dave a massive, sorry about that,I'll crawl back under my stone and say no more and go and read " Lord of the rings"glands wrote:.I made absolutely NO alterations to the set whatsoever! Re: K&Q Concert Pitch Set
Me? Owe Dave? No. He misrepresented facts about a set of pipes and intimated that I altered a set of pipes that were the best D set I'd ever had the opportunity to play. He owes me an apology. And he owes the OP an apology as well.

Ok Lewis , before you make a complete fool of yourself, Dave was referring to Barad Dur ,as he specified in his quote , but it would seem you are not a Tolkien fan.glands wrote:Me? Owe Dave? Re: K&Q Concert Pitch Set
Thanks for the clarification Rory. Have to admit I was a little slow to the Entmoot and missed the joke and read things the way Lewis did thinking something was wrong with the set. Good to know all was in jest. Better to know that the K&Q set is in fine health! Someone is going to walk away with a Precious set of pipes.
