The Cookoo: or Abbeyfeale festivals. Any feedback?

Post by Flauta dolce »

Hi there, I intend to head out of Dublin for the may bank holiday week-end.

At the moment, I cannot make a decision as to where to go.

Abbeyfeale (Limerick) or the Cookoo.

Thank you.

I've only been at each of them once, and had a better time in Abbeyfeale, more young musicians having sessions. Louisburgh's also an option, but the crowd's are getting nearly too big for the town there, and it's hard to get into pubs to have a tune - that's how I found last year anyway.

I'm sure both will be good though. Enjoy....

Thank you for the information on Abbeyfeale. I heard the same as you did. Do you know where I could get the link for the festival or who is organising it ?
Thank you.

Hi Flauta,

I am heading down to the cuckoo festival to play a few sessions or somthing along those lines. So if theres a session list check it out and maybe we will get a few tunes and a pint or two.

Good luck

So you festival junkies what's it to be? cuckoo or abbeyfeale.

Both sound good. Which place is nicer though and what has the better atmosphere?

Kinvara is a lovely wee fishing port, i cant speak for abbeyfeale, but kinvara is fairly close to ennis (lots of pre festival and post festival sesiuns).
