Ten or so years from the original verbal contract the contract is canceled by the pipe maker because he doesn't want to make the pipes due to a dispute over the workmanship of another set of pipes.

How much money should be refunded to the customer?

The deposit of $5600?

The deposit plus interest?

The deposit plus interest and an adjustment for inflation?

For the purposes of discussion, in this situation, if the last scenario is employed, and based on a complex set of calculations, the pipemaker should pay the customer about $9500.

But, forget that, what would you do or want if YOU were the customer?
