Business of the Uilleann pipes

Post by glands »

Let me turn the business of buying and selling around for you and pose this scenario and see what you bag and bellow "professors" of truth and ethics think about it.

Let's say, for the sake of illustration, that a man puts, over a period of time, $5600 down for a set of pipes with purchase price of $10,600 agreed upon ($8000 for pipes, $2000 grant for R&D, and $600 for mammoth ivory). Ten or so years from the original verbal contract the contract is canceled by the pipe maker because he doesn't want to make the pipes due to a dispute over the workmanship of another set of pipes.

How much money should be refunded to the customer?

The deposit of $5600?

The deposit plus interest?

The deposit plus interest and an adjustment for inflation?

For the purposes of discussion, in this situation, if the last scenario is employed, and based on a complex set of calculations, the pipemaker should pay the customer about $9500.

But, forget that, what would you do or want if YOU were the customer?
