30 Recordings of pipers at Koroit sessions

Post by Paragon »

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default ... tent=music

For your interest, 30 Recordings from recent Koroit (Australia) sessions, all sets lead by the pipers present. Some featuring the background noise of people talking and trucks driving down the road, but still worth a listen. Recorded on my phone, so don't expect a studio experience.

If you like a challenge, if you know any of the tunes in the sets, let me know so I can update the details.

Tell us something.: If you flush your toilet 7 times whilst lilting "The Bucks of Oranmore", an apparition of one of the great pipers of old will appear in the mirror, you will be blessed with good reeds, but cursed with bad bags and bellows.

Thanks for that, but before I edit the data, ss that to track "NM 3" ? It's the first on the list when I load the page, but I don't know if it is the case for everyone else.

Keep it coming folks!

Tell us something.: I am interested in the uilleann pipes and their typical -and broader- use. I have been composing and arranging for the instrument lately. I enjoy unusual harmonic combinations on the pipes. I use the pipes to play music of other cultures.

I think I might ask them if they want to be identified here before I say whom is playing.

I've really enjoyed what I've heard so far - excellent piping.

Just one thing though, when I listened to Will you come down to Limerick I couldn't follow the first part. Is one of the phrases shortened? There seems to be something missing.

I have updated the names as given, (thank you), and rearranged the tunes order, because it was bothering me that they were not in numerical sequence. (I think that says something about me but I'm not sure what exactly...)

I kept running into a character limit for the names so I had to shorten a few here and there, but I could add the full names in the details of each track.

Anyway, thank you for the help you have given me so far in naming the tunes. I'm delighted to say that I hardly knew any of the tunes, and I've got so much to learn!

Nice piping alright, audience wise it sounds like a well attended session, is it in a pub ?
Do the pipers not want to be named or can we start guessing?

JB1: unknown, Mulhaire's, Stenson's, Speed the Plough.
JB2: O'Farrell's Welcome to Limerick (phis fliuch).

I think this is Jack Brennan leading, not sure about the other piper. Very nice piping.

Mulhaire's, Stenson's, & Speed the Plough is a Martin Nolan set, can be heard on his
Travel 'n Style album.

Thanks for posting these!

cheers

Ah, I missed the new ones. :-)

The "unknown" tune above is Master McDermott's.

Nick Martin is the other. Jack Brennan and Nick live in Adelaide, both fine pipers!
