Martin Preshaw concert reed dimensions

Post by Brian Lee »

Hello Folks,

Been a while since I frequented the boards here! Hope everyone is well. :)

I'm trying to track down the concert D reed dimensions for a Preshaw chanter I'm working on reeding for a friend. Does anyone happen to have hard numbers for finished cane and staple dimensions? Web searches are coming up blank. Also, is he fond of rolled or tubing staples?

Thanks in advance! Cheers

Brian~

I've got them at home, but I'm currently not there. I can get them for you in a couple of days if you don't get them before then. Martin's email address is on his web site BTW.

Was looking for a quicker reply than emailing Martin. I tried that a while back and it was weeks and weeks before I heard back. At any rate, figured it would be as simple as another fellow piper taking a quick look and reporting some basics of his reed. Thanks!

Hello Brian,

I have checked my e-mails as far back as October 2012 and I cannot find either your original e-mail or indeed my reply to you. I usually do reply wiithin 24 hours so if you re-send I will be happy to provide you with my reed specs for concert pitch.

Hello Martin,

Good hearing from you here. The initial messages I sent would have been several years back now - no worries. Would you mind posting your reed dimensions and construction preferences you use here on the forum? I'm sure they would be helpful to many more than just myself.

Cheers, and thanks again!

Brian, Martin's email changed a few years back. I don't know if the old one still works but the active one is:

Maybe you have to have the special hand shake to be in on the secret.
