It struck me as a bit odd that such an elaborate set has such a plain chanter.

The set is relatively basic, if you look closer, even if the keywork may tempt you into thinking otherwise.
JJ made no-fuss sets to help people get on the pipes. A friend took us to see him, some time around 1990. Spent a lovely evening with him and his daughters. He was one who made pipes in his free time, for the love of it and to help aspiring pipers, like others of that generation.

Looks like someone has closed his workshop. Any idea who the seller - "Boreraig" - is ?

Is it possible this is a further fall-out to Brian Howard's retirement due to health issues? In any case, it looks like a horde from someone's full on pipe production being closed.

The seller is Kenneth Mcnicholl.

I won an item of his at the auction. What a nice guy! Cut one of the pieces to fit and made an extra part. Very easy to talk to. Buy, buy, buy!
