Tell us something.: Longtime piper here, mainly GHB and SSP. Had a full set of Gallagher's I sold ages ago, recently purchased another set. Have to love the cauld wind pipes. Cheers!

Thanks Steve! I would tend to agree. The more I have a chance to look the set over the more pleased I am with their condition. I'm going to take my time getting them cleaned, oiled, and re-hemped, but when I jerry rigged the chanter into one of my smallpipe bags tonight the reed actually sounded, and played well. Couldn't say the same for my fingering. It's been a long time!

You may want to get a second opinion on oiling a set of UP. They are not the same as the other pipes you may play i.e. bellows vs mouth blown.
Some makers I know advise against it!

Normally I would agree. But these were obviously stored in a pretty nasty environment for quite some time and the wood is definitely in need of conditioning. I've played bellows blown SSPs for over twenty years and have never had any issues from oiling them, per the recommendations from the makers (in this case Ian Kinnear and Heriot and Allen) themselves.

the McNichols set comes with 15 cane reeds - i'm not sure if i'm not reading the ad properly, do they mean chanter reeds? it mentions the drones are fitted with Ezee Drone synthetic reeds and come with an extra three sets of synthetic drone reeds

Tell us something.: My Seth Gallagher 3/4 set was "lost" in December by U.P.S and sold on EBay 4/12/16. I am trying to recover them.

Hi, I'm a college music professor in Ohio. My tech-adverse husband (thus I write this) is the guy whose Seth Gallagher 3/4 set of uilleann pipes serial #300 was lost by UPS in December and, astonishingly, sold on ebay on April 12. Of course we'd love to know who has them and what's to be done now.

Have you reported this to ebay? They will havea record of who sold the srt, and to where it was shipped.

... Michael's post featuring the unconsciously ironic comment "No idea if I paid too much or got a steal". Ouch! :o
