I recently got two pipe compilation disc on the iPod. Innisfree Ceoil has many tracks. I love the piping sound but can't get any band info. Who's the piper and band mates? Thanks, cheers

Re: Innisfree Ceoil - McSherry?
Just listened few previews on Amazon?
It doesn't sound like John Mcsherry to me! Am I wrong?

My guess was Davy Spillane. Just a guess.tanash369 wrote:Just listened few previews on Amazon?

Re: Innisfree Ceoil
i think it might be mcsherry because the vibrato doesn't sound as broad as spillane's, and there are some very dramatic tonal effects where the chanters leaps into the upper octave which to me are a hallmark of mcsherry's playing - also, there are what i think are small trills which i don't think spillane uses - it sounds to me like a synthesis of the fairly smooth legato playing of spillane with some of the technical flourishes i would associate with someone like liam o'flynn
