how often do you listen to recorded pipe music?

Post by rorybbellows »

Since I've only had a decent internet connection fairly recently ,I find myself going to Youtube alot for Uilleann pipe music and I'm listening to pipe music probably everyday, alot more than I used to.The computers in the kitchen so I'd put on some clips while having my lunch or in the evening when the family are watching Corrie in the living room.

How often do you listen to pipe music and where ?

Almost every day of the week, and exclusively solo piping (Potts, Hannan, Grasso...). B nat. mostly. Audio recordings (MP3) and some video from the tube and Na Píobairí Source.

Probably once or twice a day and sometimes more. Got some on my favorites for a quick listen. There are always new postings on the various forums with new and interesting sound clips that are always worth a listen. Get a lot of them right here.

I listen to at least one full album each day plus more dispersed among my frequent ITM listening. I have the benefit of working at a computer all day (graphic designer) and can listen intentfully without being distracted from the creative process (rather, enhancing it). End of July I begin a new career as a high school teacher and I will thoroughly miss the freedom to listen all day; I've certainly not taken it for granted the last five years.

Every day. I work in a cubicle, so headphones are de rigueur. And where there are headphones, there are pipes.

P.S. As a copywriter I have to question Mr. Graphic Designer's word "intentfully." You designers. ;-)

I listen to it as often as I can... every day... walks, house-work, dinner with the fam... The nice thing about doing this for years and years is even without a recording... I hear it in my head all day long. :P

Eh, what can I say; I create for a living so sometimes I feel the need to create words to express meaning ;)

When I'm at work, pretty much constantly. I've got an MP3 player full of Irish music which is on whenever I'm not talking to anyone. When I'm working in the lab, the MP3 player gets plugged into an amplified speaker, when I'm at my desk, I use earphones.

Good question, Rory. I listen to some trad music every day, I suppose. Not a piper, so not necessarily pipes.

But I'm one of those who can't abide music as background when I'm concentrating on another directed task, as at work. To me, listening is all-consuming, an active process, like reading a book or watching a film. Sure, while eating a sandwich, doing the laundry, etc. Otherwise, music demands attention, and I'm powerless. Ah, cruel mistress ...

I'm very glad someone else said this! I also have an eidetic memory for music, and can bring up entire recordings in my head at will. So I seldom carry a music player. Well, also because I'm a cheapskate. :-)
