Post by rorybbellows »

I got a loan of a C chanter recently and I'm really loving it .So now, after years of concert pitch being my favorite pitch I now think its C.

I love C. I want a C chanter so much. To my ear it's the perfect tone. D's a little bright, B seems a little goose-like, but C? C's like a sexy contralto with a velvet voice.

Someone give me money!!!!!

I really have a hard time choosing between B and C. I selected C today.

Well, I didn't think it would happen so quickly(since I'm far from well to do), but in a matter of a week or so, due to some creative finagling of resources,
I will have my hands on a narrow bore C 1/2 set, AND a concert chanter to hook
up to said 1/2 set bag.
So, I'll have two keys so to speak.

hmm, D chanter w/C drones...that'd get some stares wouldn't it?

For all you that picked a C Chanter...I got one from David Daye.

For $220 ($35 extra for all black finish with imataion irovy) you get a great sounding C chanter.

Listen to the sound sample. It speaks for itself!

http://daye1.com/pennychanter.html

click on Catalogue, then chanters and you will see the link for the sound sample.

I couldn't help wondering what it was trying to say though.

David makes Concert C chanters. Not what most flat aficionados are after...

Hi Rory

I rotate between 3 chanters actually, the Childress B, the McNicholl C and the Bailey C# and that is because I prefer the tone of those particular chanters. Until recently I would have said B like the rest of the hive  but laying my hands on decent instruments in C and C# means I am spoiled for choice - all I could say for certain now is it is not D.
