- Tell us something.: I am interested in the uilleann pipes and their typical -and broader- use. I have been composing and arranging for the instrument lately. I enjoy unusual harmonic combinations on the pipes. I use the pipes to play music of other cultures.

Yes. When the humidity in Quebec returns to reasonable levels I'll post a few sound clips.

Ooo! Lovely stuff. Play them in good health!
Re: Pictures of Your Pipes
Just remember that it is morally reprehensible to use the E reg as drone in E minor tunes.

It's also illegal in all Canadian provinces and territories although Newfoundland and Labrador allows it if there's an "R" in the month.bensdad wrote:Just remember that it is morally reprehensible to use the E reg as drone in E minor tunes.

Very nice. Nick showed it to me when I was in Ithaca a few weeks ago. It wasn't reeded or keyed then. Enjoy.

Just got back from Boonville, picking up my Michael Hubbert practice set. Ebony with nickel silver. Now, if I could just make it do something musical.
Re: Pictures of Your Pipes
The other day, I posted the first video in a series in which I'm testing/demonstrating how difficult it is to learn to play the pipes (I thought the difficultly must be overstated, but I'm in the process of changing my mind...). I used a few photos from this thread throughout the first video, which is here: http://www.youtube.com/user/dereksmootz ... u9FGQQrK2w
The photos from these users appear at roughly these times, and each is only displayed for a second or two:

bwilson - 2:17
O Gaiteiro Do Chicago 2:19
maze - 2:21
mikeylikesit - 2:27
misterpatrick - 4:21
If any of you have objections to my use of your photos, please let me know, and I'll reedit the video to replace them. If, on the other hand, you'd like to be credited for your pipes/photos, please let me know whether you would rather I used your C&F membername or your real name, and I'll add "Thanks to ____ for the use of their photographs" type messages in the comments section of the video.

A current project,-
Concert D drones in Plumwood, Turkish Box. Mainstock, unfinished, Australian hardwood, probably beefwood.
A sound sample can be heard over on the 'other' forum under 'Upload yer tunes' - 'Two hornpipes'.

Thanks Marcelo,
Yes, the mainstock is, as yet, unfinished and I will be adding the drone switch later.

David

Re: Pictures of Your Pipes
Here's the chanter I made earlier this year. It's the one in the sound file mentioned in the drones post above. Made from Queensland Brush Box, imitation ivory and brass -
