They closed up a touch. But nothing burst into flame (including the Irishmen themselves), or played uncontrollably out of tune, or any of that. Weather was great for the week as well. Wish we could have seen a few more of yous from neighbor states!

Well Pat, you and the rest of the CA bunch are most welcome any time! If you're chicken, you can leave the pipes at home - but if you really want to help us turn this ridiculously over conservative red state a nice shade of blue...or at least ease the liquor laws a bit, we may need to enlist the help of the Holy Order. ;)

Sounds to me like a job for smugglers. :D So Pat, just how much room do you have in your pipes case?

Meet Gay Mc Keon at the Belfast Tionol March 2009. He had this "C" 3/4 Coyne set and this Full set D Cillian O'Briain and had both sets in the Savage and Hoy Case. Did he have the C set with him at Salt Lake.

Gay's Cillian O'Briain set in the above photo shows the Taylor style Bass reg. He usually had the straight bass reg.

The photo from http://www.armaghpipers.com/wkpf/archiv ... 71118.html shows Gay playing with this son's Sean and Connor. In this photo you can see Connor pipes has the Taylor style Bass reg. Maybe he borrow Connor's drones and regs set but used this own chanter and bass drone tuning part.

Thanks :) Have no fear Mother Superior and the Sisters of Mercy, known as 'The Holy Order' for short, are incredibly tolerent of errant weather conditions and will make the trip, whenever that may be :D

Not enough Joe, not enough

All the best,

Gay keeps his Ó Bríain pipes in an astonishingly small case when traveling. I can't recall the dimensions, but it appeared smaller than what most button accordion cases would be. In order to fit the pipes in the case, all the components have to be completely disassembled. Gay had some special brass tubes which he used as reed covers for the drones and regulators. Apparently, he only uses this case when traveling. Damndest thing I've ever seen...

Great pics, and glad to hear Piperlink was a success elsewhere. We had over 300 people show up to the performance in Portland.
