I printed the info and gave it to someone that I work with. She said that she definitely go, and she’ll insist that her family goes as a Mothers Day gift.

I don’t know that my wife will let me out though.

I'm very excited to say I'll be making the trip there from AZ this Sunday with a small caravan of local pipers and a supporting wife. Looking forward to it!

Yeah, there are two of us coming who are right-handed in the real world but (for some god-forsaken reason) left handed in the whistle/pipes world. I'm actually just getting started and haven't secured a practice set yet but I'm looking forward to an educational trip to Pasadena.

Cheers!

If you need a second fix, pop on up to Salt Lake City next Wednesday the 13th. Last stop on the tour and sure to be a complete raging party!

It was a very nice show in Pasadena and a real pleasure to meet Gay McKeon and Tommy Keane. The history that Sean Donnelly provided was quite interesting as well, though I could have enjoyed an even more in-depth review of some of the many faces in the old photos. I've always heard about the blind pipers and they were referenced in the pictures but I've yet to hear a name attached to any one of them (or a recording).
Mr. D'Arcy, it was a pleasure to meet you as well!

Likewise Johnny. It was a shame it was such a short visit. I felt bad not being able to sit and have a few tunes with you both, especially after you coming so far!

Sounds like you need to get yourself a copy of Francis O'Neill's "Irish Minstrels and Musicians". Most of the photos used came from that book and it is laden with wonderful history about pipers from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Pipemaker Bill Haneman on his website has this book, along with other out of print books, to read and print at your leasure, a fantastic resource! I do like the actual book in hand though I have to say. Have a look on http://www.abe.com to start with if you want a physical copy. Not cheap but completely necessary in my opinion.

All the best,

Pat.
