If your preoccupation is the ivory, the big issue (other than the moral question) is do you think you will be travelling internationally with the chanter? If yes, don't buy it (or make sure you have ALL the right paperwork before buying it). If not, then if it is within your budget, buy it.

are the pads leather or are they this rubberised mouse mat material some makers use these days? If its the latter then the chanter has been tampered with and i would`nt be interested thank you. Are you sure its real ivory or mamouth/marine....................was it made by peter hunter or Sam?? All these need to be answered.

Also, as its cold in Finland, does the reed have a nice warm coat on??
