Scottish jig Itchy fingers
Does anyone have the notation for this jig in ABC or as PDF.
Thankful for any help. My friend is playing the SSP and he wants me to play along on the UP:s.
Do you have any suggestions of tunes suitable for this setup (SSP-UP) except all the GHB tunes.

Two tunes I've come across recently which would work with UP and SSP in D:lundblad wrote:My friend is playing the SSP and he wants me to play along on the UP:s.

Last Night Fun (the end of the 2nd part has to be played in 1st octave)
Drops of Brandy (the version in D, not the version in G)
If the SSP are in A, you should try the Lochaber Dance. (I can't recall if there is a G# in this tune, but if there is, you might need a keyed chanter).

I think The Congress Reel will work for you guys as well. Also, try Langstom's Pony.

Any tune that can be played on the SSP pitched in A can also be played on the concert pitch uilleann pipes. Those jumps from low A to high A that Scottish pipers love so are a bit tricky though . Irish tunes that I've come across to date that can be played on the SSP (with no "adjustment" to the tune) include Dick Gossip's, High Reel, Congress (maybe?? not sure about the C's though), a few polkas (names..uh.. ), Humours of Whiskey, Drops of Brandy (played in A), Rakish Paddy, etc. I know a few more but can't think of them right now!

Try the "Little Cascade",

Unfortunatly the gif is written in a 5th down but it is the only version of the the tune I can find that has no note mistakes.

There is a book published the Mozart Allen people compiled by David Glenn in the late 19th - early 20th century of Irish tunes for warpipes.
Jigs like The Hare in the Corn, Little House Under the Hill, The Fox Hunter(Socttish version), Welcome the Piper etc. work well on ssp & up.
I think you can get the book on c.d. rom by looking up ceolsean on google.
He has a few Glenn collections. They are also of interest to highland pipers for the rather unconventional/crazy pre Scot's Guard grace notes.
I'll get back with better info after I've slept.
