Baglady, green jacket and saffron kilt sounds very nice. I will have to have my kitties listen to I'll Be a Wild Kitty No More. With my luck it will just give those little rascals ideas!

Uilliam, are we listening to the same song? I'm hearing an Irish ballad. Wild About Kitty sounds like Donovan---what they were just talking about---"I'm just wild about Saffron".

Where's Tumeric, maybe she's happy. She is an inexpensive substitute for Saffron.

I am trying to come up with regalia to wear when I play on stage with a step dance school. My problems are that I want to look distinctly Irish and I am a woman. Any ideas?
:D Wear one of those getups that Enya wears on her albumn covers.

Or you could go for the Sinnead O'Conner look.. maybe its because of Sinnead, but the first thing I think when I see a shave heid'ed Eagle Beak Woman is Irish.

Very nice looking indeed! It looks very nice on both the men and the women.

I had a look at the website and re your quote on it,,Our headdress is the most distinctive sign of an Irish solider, known as a caubeen. So highly individualistic is the caubeen that no two look alike.... . I had a look at the fotys and I am afraid I didnae see one Caubeen being worn :-? A lot of green berets maybe, or at a push a balmoral with the pom pom removed but not a Caubeen... :boggle:

note the high front thats what makes the caubeen distinctive.

Ah! The one word from Phil the Fluter's Ball that didnae make any sense suddenly comes into view...
Then Phil the Fluther tipped a wink to little Crooked Pat,
"I think it's nearly time,'' sez he, "for passin' round the hat.''
So Paddy pass'd the caubeen round, and looking mighty cute.
Sez, "Ye've got to pay the piper when he toothers on the flute.''
Then all joined in wid the greatest joviality,
Covering the buckle, and the shuffle, and the cut;
Jigs were danced, of the very finest quality,
But the Widda' bet the company at "handling the fut."
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

I get confused with all the different hat styles in Scotland. So far I have found: Balmoral, Caubeen, Glengarry, Tam O'Shanter, and regular working man's flat topped Cap. With so much emphasis on headwear for men, this begs the question, what is wrong with Scottish coiffures that they should so desparately need to keep them covered up? :D

Hi DJM

It's not the coiffures but the amount of rain that drops on them otherwise.
