Chanter Sale EXXXXXTRAVAGANZA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by The Sporting Pitchfork »

Yes, The Sporting Pitchfork is out of his toolshed!

For Sale:

One (1) concert D wide-bore chanter in ebony with boxwood and brass mounts and three (3) brass keys (C nat., F nat., G #). Manufactured last year by Captain Lightning Rogge, Pipemaker in the 22nd Century.

The key setup is intended for a left-handed player but the placement of the keys is pretty ergonomic and would not present any problem for a right-handed player. For a rightie, all keys can be reached using the bottom hand thumb without difficulty.

I'll also throw in a spare reed.

Purchased from Andreas Rogge last year for 1,000 euros (that's $1,232 US). I'm selling it for the unbelievably low, low price of just $800!

It's a nice chanter, but I've already got one nice chanter and I really need to get some money scraped together for regulators.

Any takers?

Come on, you know you want it...

Any chance of throwing in a rotisserie grill or pocket fisherman outfit?

US$800 is EU650 - a 35% savings off the original price!

I'd act but I just sent a 4 figure check to Mr. Gallagher this past week.

That's a price that is hard to beat...but I am curious, will the proceeds REALLY go to regulators, OR to a B chanter thingy :D :D :D ?

WOW! :o Dude I think you got screwed on the cost of that reed there. I mean I can understand a bit of a markup, but ya know over $1,000 American is still a bit steep for most of us. Is it made out of whale foreskins or somethin'??

(this is a joke of course for those who will inevitably try to explain the original post to me...)

Tell us something.: I used to play pipes about 20 years ago and suddenly abducted by aliens.
Not sure why... but it's 2022 and I'm mysteriously baack...

It's SIMPLE Gary... being left-handed and knowing how hard it is to find left-handed pipes, one must always have a backup chanter 'just in case' or in your situation 'just in the case'

Yes! Yes! Be as exxxxxxxxxxtra sneaky as you want to be! Throw in a few more x's if it'll make you feel better.

And for the record, yes proceeds from this sale will be going toward the purchase of regulators for my D set. I'm not just going to go out and buy a B chanter just yet. Ohhhh no. It's all or nothing with the flat set. See, the way it works is first I get the regulators for my D set. Then, I go out and buy a B set. Then, somewhere in between, I go to grad school. Then, I sell myself into slavery for the rest of my natural life to pay off my massive debts.

Simple.

In all honesty, I do hope one of the kind, intelligent, over-moneyed members of the Chiff and Fipple community decides to get the chanter, though. I want it to go to a good home and I'm not sure I trust it with some of the knuckleknobs on eBay.

It's painful isn't it? I have exactly the same prob., with my old Hunter set, but I just can't bring myself to ride the corporate cock that is ebay (yet :P ), so I might set fire to them for the solstice or something.......
People don't know a good thing when it twats them between the eyes! Perhaps they're afraid of no longer being able to blame their instrument?
