Hm. I do.
I play a D full set in ebony/brass and a B chanter in cocobolo/nickel silver.
Sean Og Potts plays a B set. Peter Browne plays a D set. Martin Nolan plays Rogge pipes. See www.uilleann-pipes.de for more references. Oh, and between 50-70% of all German pipers (I guess close to 100) play his pipes, too (this is a guess).

I play a D set. I love it. Sometimes I just stare longingly at its gleaming metal-and-wood features....

Be sure to check out the new super-duper D set on his website! It has an E reg in a novel configuration as well as a highA tenor drone.

Question: I am unable to get a 3rd octave D on my chanter. I think I have tried every finger combo under the sun. Any trouble getting this note on a Rogge chanter? Do I need a key? Maybe it is just this reed.

That's a neat (and crazy!) looking set! I wonder whose it is...

I've always liked the look (and sound) of his work; he'd be among my top choices if i was looking for a new set. That cocobolo/boxwood/brass full set at the top of his catalogue page never fails to make me drool. :)

Be seeing you,

eric.

I saw this "super" set when I last visited Andreas' workshop. Of course it was an order from the U.S.! A bit too much for my taste, though. The set is very compact, the drones are much shorter than mine for example. Andreas says, he nowadays likes to build his sets in a more compact fashion.

I play a Rogge concert D set (ebony), reeded to play quietly and sweetly.

The photo below is a Rogge D ebony chanter with C nat key Andreas made and got at the Belfast Tionol March 1999.

In July 2000 I sent the chanter to Andreas to put F nat and G# keys on. When I collected the chanter at the Cultra Tionol September 2000 I was told by Andreas that chanter I sent was not left handed but for right handed player. So he had to make a new chanter as I was left handed which he made in two months.

I wonder who is playing this chanter now. I can remember that the G note was a bit sharp so I flatten the hole with red wax
