Is Mr.Hunter still making pipes?

A forum about Uilleann (Irish) pipes and the surly people who play them.

Yes I agree with John, Stephenson is the closest you'll get to Hunter. I have a Hunter chanter about 20 years old, ivory mounts and four keys that plays like a dream. Got it from a friend of Danny's. Still can't understand why he sold it. Incidentally it has a Williams reed in it that Dave made and sent off without even seeing the chanter!!!

Tell 'em it's netsuke! I thought Japan was the only country where ivory was legal to import ivory.

I played Larry Dunn's Hunter B half set. VERY nice, sound, craftsmanship, playbility, the works.

I'm very satisfied with Mr.Stephenson's work but can't go with him now
because of his current unsteady condition. I love the chanter he made me
(though its in Davy's workshop right now) and hopes that he will complete
my works soon.

By the way It seems that I got contact with Mr.Hunter.
