Northeast Tionol Registration is Open!

Post by skipjam »

Hi again,

The Northeast Tionol website has been updated, and we are taking registrations. As a quick reminder, the tionol will take place October 22nd-25th at Gavin's Resort in East Durham, New York. Please mark your calendars! We have a great list of instructors this year, including:

Tiarnan O'Duinnchinn
Gay McKeon
Eamonn Dillon
Cillian Vallely
Benedict Koehler
Kara Doyle

Patrick Ourceau and Rose Conway Flanagan will be seeing to the fiddle instruction. We are still working on the reedmaking "guru" slot, but we will have an announcement in that department soon.

Go to http://www.eastcoastpipers.com to obtain more information and register. We hope to many of you in October!

All the best, Skip Cleavinger

The Odd Blonde (http://www.uilleannobsession.com/extras_k&q.html#032910) will be making an appearance.

Tell us something.: I am interested in the uilleann pipes and their typical -and broader- use. I have been composing and arranging for the instrument lately. I enjoy unusual harmonic combinations on the pipes. I use the pipes to play music of other cultures.

Love the name. I wonder how many sets of pipes have monikers? And I hope TOB makes more than an "appearance" :o

Can't wait to hear the Odd Blonde.. the only set of pipes that can play C13 chord with a flat 9. I bet you've got 'em singing, Bensdad!

Hey, I resemble that remark!

OK, seriously -- I can't wait to see these things in "person." That's worth the price of admission right there.

Just checking in to remind everyone that registration is open for the Northeast Tionol, and we are on track for a another great event this October 22-24. If you register before August 15th, you can save $15 in the registration fee! You can register by going to the Northeast Tionol website (http://www.eastcoastpipers.com).

On a related note, we have two scholarships available for students under 25 years of age. The scholarships will cover registration costs and $100 toward accommodations at Gavin's Irish Country Inn, our host resort for the weekend. Details and an application form are available on the Northeast Tionol website.

Again, please go to http://www.eastcoastpipers.com for all of the details. We hope to see many of you in October. Happy piping!

Sad to report, but what with 95 degree heat and 85% and more humidity, the A is actually out of tune by .00005 cents.
You just can't buy reliability these days.

Maybe you can try out my crazy cool DMQ mahogany reed? See you at the wonderful NE Tionol - nothing like it in all of the world - especially in the Catskills of New York State, even more especially at Gavins, and even more specifically this this October 22-24.

No wending on this trip. Just punching the coordinates for Gavin's Pub into the transporter and hitting "engage" for this one.
