Re: Pictures of Your Pipes
Jon,
It is the Al Purcell set of Crowley pipes. I've put a fair amount of work into it...had a few cracks repaired, tied in a new bag, and did a thorough breakdown and reconstruction of the set. It's in the hands of Mr. O'Kaine for reedmaking right now. The chanter seemed to play well with a variety of different reeds, and the reeds that Mr. O'Kaine has made for my other chanters really sing, so I'm hopeful that this will be a great sounding set.
As for ever wanting to part with it, anything is possible, since I acquired the Fromemt, which is now set up and playing very well, and I have two flat sets on order (C and B)...and the Brennan set, so it doesn't make sense to keep so many sets around. I will certainly post something on this forum if I ever do decide to part with them.

What's the trick to posting photos on here? I have several of my C set but can't figure out how to post them.

You need to upload your photos to a hosting site like www.imageshack.us then post the tags (address where the image is hosted) that the hosting site gives you, using the "Img" button (while you're posting a message you will see a menu of buttons directly above the field where you write your reply. The Img button is one of these.

Re: Pictures of Your Pipes
I recently received delivery from Nick Whitmer of a new concert pitch chanter. Here's a photo of the new chanter with the rest of the set he made for me - Drones from 2005, tenor and baritone regulators from 2006 and bass regulator from 2007.
The chanter has 4 keys and Nick's own design stop valve.
Thanks Nick.

Looks great PJ. This design looks simpler and more elegant than the "beehive" style he does. Was this a special request or is this now his standard style?

Re: Pictures of Your Pipes
Hi Liam,
It was a special request but based on stuff that Nick already does. The upper mount and ferrule are similar to what Nick does with the ends of his regulators. The lower turning is styled after the ends of his baritone and tenor regulators.
I'm very happy with the sound of the chanter. It's not quite as loud as my Thompson chanter but it's just as sweet.

Re: Pictures of Your Pipes
Andreas Rogge Lefthanded D full set Dec 2008 Plumwood, with brass and boxwood. The bass regulator is Detachable and the set comes with a brass slide which plugs the mainstock so the set can be played as a 3/4 set.
The chanter is much darker as it was made in Jan 2004 Plumwood, with brass and boxwood with 4 keys also has the tuning screw for high D screwed all the way in.
My new C chanter Dec 2008 Plumwood, with brass and boxwood with 4 keys also has the tuning screw for high D screwed wee bit in.

Re: Pictures of Your Pipes
This is my first set, a Benson and Cornelius practice set in cocobolo, boxwood, and brass.
(These were actually taken with a very high-quality camera, but I reduced the quality to make the file size smaller. Also, how can I make them not so huge?)

Re: Pictures of Your Pipes
Just received this 'Coyne style' B chanter made by David Lim of Manchester. I am very chuffed, even with an excitably made 15 minute reed it sounds great, crisp, sweet and even. The Hard D is like throwing melted chocolate into the snow (or make up your own analogy). It's a quality instrument!
