My Uilleann Pipes won't play right

Post by Rhience »

I've had them for about a year and they have always played great, but a week ago I loaned them out and when I got them back, they will hardly play at all. The sound that comes out of them is very quiet and squeaky. I don't know much about the inner workings of uilleann pipes so I have no idea what to do. I have the Partick Sky budget practice set. Any information about what might actually be wrong with them would be extremely appreciated. Thanks. BTW, I did notice a small little crack in the reed, if that's of any help.

Check bridle position, are reed lips closed?

Call Pat Skye and see about getting a new reed. Also, don't lend out your pipes, the reeds are too sensative.

Tell us something.: I play traditional Irish and Scottish music.

That's probably your problem. Best get Pat Sky to make you a new reed.

We need an update of an old cartoon. It shows a rustic appearing mountaineer type stating that he lends out his 'geetar' after
his wife, his dog, and his gun. . .in that order. :D
