And on the tenth day, he rose again ....
Ugh. That smarts!
Well, I appear to be back. Appear being the operative word. Back from the arms of Morpheus, and bearing a brand new set of high-speed, Teflon-enriched knees.
Crumbs, that hurt. And still does. Indeed, my appearance here today only made possible by a massive and continuing dose of Morphine. Wow, if this is what drug abuse is all about, no wonder I haven't been interested.
Still, I'm sitting up, and typing, if somewhat inaccurately. And reminded of Milligan, in Puckoon:
"He rolled his trousers kneewards revealing the like of two thin white hairy affairs of the leg variety. He eyed them with obvious dissatisfaction. After examining them he spoke out aloud. 'Holy God! Wot are dese den? Eh?' He looked around for an answer. 'Wot are dey?' he repeated angrily.
'Legs.'
'Legs? LEGS? Whose legs?'
'Yours.'
'Mine? And who are you?'
'The Author.'
'Author? Author? Did you write these legs?'
'Yes.'
'Well, I don't like dem. I don't like 'em at all at all. I could ha' writted better legs meself. Did you write your legs?'
'No.'
'Ahhh. Sooo! You got some one else to write your legs, some one who's a good leg writer and den you write dis pair of crappy old legs fer me, well mister, it's not good enough.'
'I'll try and develop them with the plot.'
And so I must now develop mine. Thanks all for the nice remarks, I look forward to taking my place once more amongst you. Just not too fast at first, eh?
Terry

Welcome back.
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

Up and at 'em, Terry!
I respect people's privilege to hold their beliefs, whatever those may be (within reason), but respect the beliefs themselves? You gotta be kidding!

Geez, even after minor surgery, my knee was swollen, black, and shaved.Terry McGee wrote: Still, I'm sitting up, and typing, if somewhat inaccurately. And reminded of Milligan, in Puckoon:

Good to see you back, Terry, and glad you're feeling well enough to be a little curmudgeonly and that you haven't lost your sense of humour.

Terry, rising on the tenth day is OK, but don't try the water trick. I hope you have a speedy and full recovery.

Get well soon, Terry.
Is Teflon a bit like Delrin? I was thinking you could sort of use a blow tube to be able to reach to get air to them and drill holes in them and have them as fancy ocar-knee-nas.

I've heard that morphine is very constipating.
Apparently not in this instance.

Extremely constipating, JD, certainly by far the worst I've ever experienced. Fortunately (at least for me), the combination of an iron constitution and the wonders of modern medical science are proving a match.Julia Delaney wrote:I've heard that morphine is very constipating.

This has been a bit of a voyage of discovery for me. First general anaesthetic, first epidural block, first Patient Controlled Anaesthetic, first use of morphine, first significant surgery, first enema (ahem...), first time on walkers and crutches, first time self-administering injections, there are probably others. But then I'm hardly more than a pup ....
And, as usual in any visit to a medical institution, the profound awareness that so many are doing it so much tougher.
Oh well, gotta fly. Lot's of painful exercises to be completed before bedtime!

Hey Terry,
Glad you are keeping to the confines of the lab and not out terrorizing the town's people!
Seriously, glad you are on the mend!
