I can't wear makeup (foundation or lip stuff at least) while I'm playing my flutes, it drives me nuts... I just settle for eye makeup if anything and save the rest for some other time.... Hopefully, most people are listening to my music and not expecting the Brittney Spears of ITM, but I do understand that if you're on stage makeup can be useful...

Seems unlikely that mineral makeup would actually harm the wood... but maybe you could post the ingredients and a flutemaker or some other wood expert might be able to give you a better idea.

Reminds me of the old Quantz remedy of using your wig powder to stop the flute from slipping away from your embouchure on hot days.

It's very simple, if it's not good for your flute, it's not good for your face either.
A nourishing crème du jour works both ways :)

shucks the guys know more about this that the girls seem to.

i don't wear make up, well, just mascara so i don't know.

is not wearing make up a possibility? or maybe blot around the chin area with tissue before you play? or grow a beard.

I hope these may help...

@ use water-registe make-up products
@ put the meneral water mist after the powder (like evian and so on)
and let it dry, it helps fixing the micro-powder onto your face (but put mascara afterwards)
@ you may use oil-absorbing paper (bodyshop and so on)
@ you may put too much, after powdering, some strokes by face brush
allows to blow out the excessive
