FS Sam Murray Flute with pics and clips
Hey Guys,
My girlfriend just got a fully keyed flute (some people think you need em ) and asked me to help her sell her unkeyed Murray in D. It's about 8 months old and is beautiful. I'm not just saying this but if I wasn't monogamous with my Hammy (other keys aren't cheating I tell myself) I'd take it myself. It's been well looked after and oiled with almond oil. The joints fit nice and snug and the wood has no cracks or imperfections. It is a beautiful light flute. It comes with one of those fancy cases you see the kids carrying around these days. I'll spare you the "it plays great, great bottom D, responsive, bright blah blah blah..." It's a really nice flute by a great maker and I really enjoy playing it. Anyways, enough talk.
The Pics
The Clips (I have to apologize because this isn't my flute and I'm not that used to playing it. I should also note that I HATE recording and that I generally go for a more breathy sound so that is me, and not the flute)
Killavil Jig
The Boyne Hunt and the Sandmount
Due to the rising Euro we are asking for what she paid for it. $1300 plus shipping. All inquiries can be directed to me badmrjiveatgmailnospamdotcom or a private message on this forum. I will not respond to this thread persuant to board rules.
Thanks,
Jack

Yeah man, you really suck on that Murray Better post some clips with the Hammy so we know what you can really do
Good to see you around, Jack, although I take it from your sig this visit will be brief.
FWIW to those who may be interested: I just passed on one of these newer blackwood Murray flutes recently, but only because I was unable to find a reasonable way around my blackwood allergy issues. The new owner and a session mate have been much impressed with the Murray, and these are folks who have played several of the better flutes out there.
The price is fair and Jack is well known and trusted among those of us who have been around a long while. You'll get no unpleasant surprises dealing with him.

I believe those exact cases are discontinued - I have one and searched quite a bit but couldn't find another. The case carries the brand name Jessops, if you want to search around a bit. It's been a few years since I last looked. Hey, if you have any luck finding them, please let me know!

It's a camera case. Jessop's was a big UK camera/photographic supplies chain. I think they went bust some years ago but similar type camera cases are widely available. This one, for example. And here is a used Jessop case. (Check if it's the right size for you. Both are slightly larger than the ones Sam Murray used). Any maker of flightcases will have this sort of thing in stock.

Tommy, why go with an unknown? For less money you can go with the original:

The cost of postage from the US to Ireland for those gun cases is pretty much prohibitive.

That was my thought as well. I don't care that the OP was 8 years ago...as a long term Chiffster, we expect more of you Jack! Taunting us all with long abandoned clip links. For shame...ChrisLaughlin wrote:Dude - where are the clips?

Re: FS Sam Murray Flute with pics and clips
This is the Sam Murray flute I bought in June 2008 from a lady in El Cerrito, Calif. It was 8 months old and cost 1300 USD. I still have the case, but in July , 2011 I left the flute at Sam's workshop in Galway for Sam to repair a barrel crack and never saw the flute again. Weird to see this thread turn up.
