The main List @ Google Pages Chiff & Fipple Wooden Flute Makers List has at last been fully updated. There are several additions, a few changes and some makers whose online presence has "fallen off" - which is not to say that they have necessarily gone out of production (though they may have.....)

My thanks to all who have notified me of new/previously unlisted makers or websites and of new or changed or defunct links. I have also checked all the entries and as of the time of writing all the links are active.

Please keep the additions and updates coming.

Thanks for that one, I.D.10-t. Nice concise website with excellent explanations of the pitch and tuning issues amongst other matters.

I've found a bug!

Angus Fifes and Anthony Arnold have the same URL.

Do I win a prize?

Denny, I NEVER throw up! I consider it to be a manifestation of the most appalling loss of self-control!

Thanks for assorted heads-ups, guys - I'll get on to fixing them when I have a chance - within the next couple of weeks, I hope.

A random search on Google for 'seery woodwind' resulted in me bumping into Desi Seery's new website at http://seeryflutes.com/index.html. There isn't much to see, but it's a website nonetheless. No wonder his old website went defunct..

Thanks for that heads-up, optakeover - I'll add it to my list of pending amendments for The List..... (Quite a few to do!)

That said, the page at that link scarcely qualifies as a "Website"! Apart from a very brief text and a contact-form link, all it has is just a random gallery of pretty irrelevant images of instruments like Bohm flutes and recorders!!!!! This really looks like more a holding operation than an active website - maybe it'll get developed eventually. I think it hardly qualifies as an explanation for the demise of Seery's former on-line presence (which we don't really know why he abandoned), more as a toe-in-the-water, tentatively contemplating diving back in.

I wonder how "active" this is, and how recently put on-line? (Can any of our resident computer geeks find out?) It would be interesting to know if anyone has tried to contact Seery through this and whether they got a response and in what time-frame.

I'm thinking Desi Seery isn't very particular about the presentation of his website, some of the images look weird as well.. The layout is really poor and on a high-res screen like my iMac desktop some of the content gets misplaced. And to think website design was undertaken by a web-design company.. Well in all it's right it's still a website, but I hae to agree that even I myself am bewildered by the lack of content.

For when the website was launched, this info from whois.net can help:

Code: Select all

   Domain Name: SEERYFLUTES.COM
   Registrar: 1 & 1 INTERNET AG
   Whois Server: whois.schlund.info

OK, Denny very kindly went fishing too and found this:

An Indian in Calcutta registering it?

I think maybe we'll pass on doing anything with this until the situation becomes clearer.

If anyone feels enthusiastic enough to follow through by contacting the e-address/using the form on the putative website (or e-mailing the registrant above!) and or can contact Seery himself and clarify this, please let us know how you get on. Myself, can't be a**ed.
