grease for key

hello

I'm cleaning my flute, and I'm going to grease the key (they are in brass). What kind of grease should I use ?

And, by the way, can I use the same grease for the tuning slide ? (which is in brass too)

Cheers !

Birl.

Regualar Woodwind key oil is fine just try to avoid getting it on the wood. If the tuning slide is clean it won't need grease, it is better to clean it using steel wool, than using grease, just make sure you wipe it off after you clean it.

I've used chain saw bar oil. It's designed to have excellent clinging properties, and it's a good viscosity, J.

Hi... can someone tell me why you would want/need to grease the keys on wooden flutes? Thanks...

Just the axels or pins that the keys rotate on, metal on metal, J. Just a ver small amount! J.
