Flutes and daughters

Post by David Levine »

I have five daughters!
Jessie is lucky.
I told each daughter that she could have any flute she might want from my collection. Not one of them plays. I have come to the conclusion that most parents don't get the kids they deserve and most kids don't get the parents they deserve.
That said, I love each of them to death-- and I know they love me.
I am a man rich in daughters....

Tevye, eh? :)

Yes, we are lucky. It's exciting. :) We want to have a few kids...I wonder how I will get them to love whistles and flutes. Maybe reverse psychology, like "when you're older, dear."

Kids-- playing

Yes, either "Not for a while," or... leave your flute out where they can see it. Tell them absolutely not to touch it and then leave the room for a while.

Michael

Here is a non-commercial site that helped me with my Bamboo Flute making. I hope it will be of use to you.

The Japanese Flute Homepage
http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~DL1S-YMGC/index-e.htm

My favorite flute design here is the "Nohkan" or "Throat Flute"
http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~DL1S-YMGC/nohkan-e.htm

You could also send an e-mail to Monty Levenson at...
http://www.shakuhachi.com
He's a great guy and has the most web-info on bamboo flute materials/techniques(i hope you will forgive this commercial site promo?).
