I have half a bottle of Gibson fretboard cleaner in my shed.
It looks clear and oily and it for reconditioning guitar fretboard's of rosewood or ebony.
It says..."prevents cracks and reconditions dry fretboards"
Could I use it to oil the internal barrel of my flute?
It must be good stuff...as Gibson don't do rubbish.
Gibson fretboard cleaner?..Can I use it to oil my flute?

Flutes are not guitars. The objectives of reconditioning a fretboard might not be the same as you might have to restore a flute. I wouldn't use it just because it does not say what it actually is. Could just be lemon oil or another citrus oil though. That is what many would use on fretboards. But we don't know, do we?
You might want to ask around here what the restoration crowd use to clean and re-hydrate their flutes. Of course you could search the archives too.

Times have changed. They do rubbish nowadays, quite a bit actually - along with some good stuff. Just my opinion.Sarfeastlondonlad wrote:It must be good stuff...as Gibson don't do rubbish.

I've proven who I am so many times, the magnetic strips worn thin.

Depends upon what is in it. If solvent based, then no.

You might do a search here on "bore oil" and see what others have suggested before putting anything in the bore. It's a somewhat controversial topic, but there seem to be some generally agreed upon "don'ts".Sarfeastlondonlad wrote:I'll just wait till the holidays are over...and get some unboiled linseed oil.
Best wishes for the holidays.
