FS Antique boxwood 6-keyed flute

Post by carrie »

Although I thought I would never part with it, now that I have my Olwell keyed flute I think the time has come to sell the antique. It was made by Robert Wolf & Co., London, c. 1840, and is stamped with that name and a unicorn. It has 6 pewter keys, including a low C# and C. Patrick Olwell restored it in fall 2002 and I bought it from him then. You can see (very amateurish, sorry) photos here. The price is $1300, firm, plus shipping with insurance. Also comes with the Cavallaro case I received it in.

Please contact me off-board at cfrancis1014 at yahoo dot com for all further communication.

Thanks!

Tell us something.: From the land beyond beyond. From the time past hope and fear. I bid you, Genie, now appear! Well, the Genie did not appear but the notification to type at least 100 characters did so I am back and typing some more as you, if anyone actually sees this, can probably tell.

I played this flute for a while some years ago and it is a beauty!

Wish I had the money to buy it from you, Carol. :)

Very interesting, 6 keys to low C, "missing" the long F and high C keys. I've never played a fully keyed flute in boxwood, and am very curious how it's different from cocus.

I'm looking for a new (old) flute too. Looking at baroque boxwood.

Has the wood warped?
