To fund the upcoming arrival of a new Olwell flute I need to part ways with my säckpipa. This is a custom set by Alban Faust in the style that he calls "Northern Uilleann Pipes." This set features three drones and is bellows blown. It has your traditional high drone that matches the main note of the chanter, one drone that is an octave lower, and then a drone that can be switched to either the fourth or fifth. Each drone has it's own switch so they are easy to turn on and off using the wrist. The set also has three chanters, C/F, D/G, and E/A, the later being the more traditional pitch. The drones have extra holes and plugs so they can be tuned to whichever chanter is in use. The chanters all come with a cap on top so they can be changed without risking damage to the reed. The pipes are made out of olive wood with blackwood and reindeer antler mounts. I am looking to get $4,500 OBO for this set. I waited about two years for it as Alban does not make sets like these very often.
