BTW, the Peterson tuner seems to work best for mando with the signal boost "on" , due to the quicker note decay for mando than guitar.

Thanks for the post. I was looking for a solid tuner and music slow downer for my iPhone.
Another useful iPhone app is TradTunes, which contains ~4,000 tunes in ABC format. No notation viewer as yet, but reading ABC isn't too hard once you get used to it.
