Champion Violin Peg Set

Post by Jay-eye »

Saw these fiddle pegs: "Adjustable tension friction pegs w/ metal shaft and ebonoid button. Each peg has a specially sized bullet-shaped tip, the E-string having the shortest and the G-string having the longest. From Grover. $20" while following somebody elses link.

See them for yourself at: http://www.elderly.com/accessories/items/VP18.htm

Anybody know anything about them?

If they're anything like the set I saw, the screw on the end has to be tightened to hold the tension. Screwy idea if you ask me. They don't hold well. It's hard to beat wooden friction pegs. But if they turn too hard...take a pencil and scribble a little lead on the contact area. If the peg slips too easy, rub on a little rosin.

They might be a copy of something like "pegheds".

With "pegheds" on a fiddle you don't need fine tuners on any of the strings.
