A moment of silence for great flame wars past
I've been quite bored today and laid up with stomach issues, so of course I browsed the C&F archives. It was among these humble pages where such characters as Talbert St. Claire, the Christian Grey Larson fanboy, and many others lavished their split personalities, social ineptness, and just pure outrageousness upon us all. Though their invective may at the time have frayed nerves and challenged friendships, today, well, they make for a hell of a laugh.
Thanks for all the good times (intentional or not).

Your mother wears army boots.
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

We need to start some more of those flame wars. This place has gotten too sedate.
Any ideas?

Advancing age and the associated medications can have that effect.brewerpaul wrote:This place has gotten too sedate.

Don't worry ... The impending release of Riverdance 2 and Titanic 2, the sequels, will spur thousands of people to take up the whistle and flood into the Chiffboard, with plenty of new flames to enjoy.
Having just watched Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, I'm sure that both sequels will involve vampire zombies. In the Riverdance finale, Flatley viciously attacks the dancing lasses with his flute, and then comes after the brains of the audience. And Jack and Rose seek revenge against the White Star line by sucking the blood of the entire population of Belfast in 3-D, to the haunting strains of Celtic aires. Memorable new theme song by moon goddess Selene Dion: "My Heart [and Other Organs] Will Go On [Your Menu]". You heard it here first!

Goodness knows I've done my part and tried to keep things weird. You run out of steam cheerleading to a wall, and part of that problem is that it seems that a lot of people just don't know how to be controversial without getting moderated, so they just stop trying any more. No, you gotta do it something like this:
What rubbish. Who says I wouldn't eat my cat? I think of her as famine insurance, and I'm sure she thinks the same of me. It doesn't mean we can't be best pals in the meantime. Everyone wins. But just try serving cat at Thanksgiving. Is this so hard to grasp?

Once when I was around five, my aunt killed and cooked my cousin's pet turkey for dinner. I remember having distinctly ambivalent feelings about the meal. Not quite like Homer and Pinchy, but sort of.Nanohedron wrote:What rubbish. Who says I wouldn't eat my cat?

RiverDance2, Titanic2... I just hope the inspiration renews the Chiffy Toss in The Corrs Feathers for some Celtic stomp folk/rock/pop discussion. Love it.

Not by mistake, I take it.MTGuru wrote:Once when I was around five, my aunt killed and cooked my cousin's pet turkey for dinner.
So you ate it. And your cousin?MTGuru wrote:I remember having distinctly ambivalent feelings about the meal. Not quite like Homer and Pinchy, but sort of.
I hope Homer's tears seasoned Pinchy, because they would otherwise be a waste of salt.MTGuru wrote: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQys93Qm8kc

Judging by the process, involving wooden blocks and sharp implements, I'd say not by mistake. At least not the kind of mistake you mean.Nanohedron wrote:Not by mistake, I take it.MTGuru wrote:Once when I was around five, my aunt killed and cooked my cousin's pet turkey for dinner.
Yes, I ate it. No, I didn't eat my cousin.Nanohedron wrote:So you ate it. And your cousin?MTGuru wrote:I remember having distinctly ambivalent feelings about the meal. Not quite like Homer and Pinchy, but sort of.
