What will you be listening to as the world ends?

Post by brewerpaul »

Just curious what music people have chosen to listen to as the world comes to an end on 12/21? Some possibilities that come to mind are:

Messiaen's Quartet For The End Of Time
End Of The World As We Know It by R.E.M.
The End by The Doors

First thought is Gloria Estefan's 'Always Tomorrow' (posted years ago after Hurricane Andrew). So now we need a new song in the aftermath of SuperStorm Sandy 2012. Mayan December 21st? I'll be playing this over and over:

I'll be reading Maya Angelou and listening to the Sinfonía India of Carlos Chavez.

I wll start with Rush's 2112. The Mayans are off by at least 100 years.
Then I will listen to Rush's 24 Gold Albums, of which 14 went Platinum.

I am fond of requiem masses. Rutter, Faure', maybe a few others. Would be appropos, I suppose.

Tell us something.: I play high and low whistle with Traditional Irish Music being my focus of interest. I love Irish music and consider it as a direct connection to my Irish heritage. I enjoy participation in whistle tours, chatting with other players, and learning much from the many talented folks that frequent C & F.

Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

I do like "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," Ladysmith Black Mambazo version only.
