Newport, R.I. USA

I can partial blame my hybridization on living next door to Frank Zappa's son and enjoying Newport,R.I. home of the first American Jazz fest and my family's music.

Very cool to listen free while anchored swingin' on your hook in the harbour! Right there is always best though!

When I was into jazz, the Newport Jazz Festival was in New York. I would've gone a few times if it had been in Newport.

The only festival I've been to in the last few years has been the Louisiana Swamp Romp at Wolf Trap. They usually have a good mix of blues, Cajun, zydeco, etc. I enjoy it all, but the highlight, probably 10 years ago now, was Marcia Ball, who absolutely rocks.

The Washington Area Irish Festival used to be just a few miles away. I caught that every year for some time, but alas, it has gone the way of all flesh.

Chas, to bad you missed NP... I read one year back in 60/61 the 1961 was cancled because of riots happening around USA. I not around yet... Sound's as if you found some good fun dispite!!!

Great fests!!! looks like wonderful times!

Must bookmark some of these, who knows where any of us may end up some day! I just went to a fun Greek Fest today in Florida, USA. Good food & Music with dance... March I'll be in Costa Rica..
