Don't know if this is along the same lines, but my mom would sometimes grumble about males and their troublesome Y chromosomes!
I had no idea what she meant by that!

Re: The egg rules the world
Does that make it the "no idea Y"?

I wouldn't worry about it too much, eventually the Y will disappear in the not too distant future. High mutation rate don't ya know.osage59 wrote:Don't know if this is along the same lines, but my mom would sometimes grumble about males and their troublesome Y chromosomes!

Re: The egg rules the world
IB these were definitely rude roosters
That's what was tryin' their best to flog us everytime we stepped out the door, or got out of the vehicle. About eight pounds of evil rooster multiplied times four.
Actually, since then I've learned that this is a common problem, roos gone bad, whether they've got lady friends or not.

It would have had to have been at least 40 hens minimum for 4 roosters.. They could have had a good life here if they'd behaved, but noooooMaybe the roosters were psychic and going rogue because they knew they had nothing left to lose. Another solution would have been importing a hen or two. That would have relived the tensions.

Re: The egg rules the world
I AM crazy Denny..because I'm gonna try again....but with two different breeds...Dominiques (known to me as Domineckers)
I grew up with them, granddaddy always had a flock of them on our farm and they never bothered anyone. In fact one rooster was my pet-named Goldie..don't know why I named him that.and wouldn't you know it, they are now a rare heritage breed(not good for mass production market so their numbers dwindled to about 5,000 in the whole country) but I've located a breeder in OH so in a few months I hope to be able to get some chicks. So dominiques for me and for the Lil a few Buff Orphington hens..they are supposed to be very docile and gentle lap chickens. We'll see how it goes. If that doesn't work I'm gettin myself some guineas!
I blame this all on being without a Skye Terrier for the first time in 38 years....

Re: The egg rules the world
I don't personally know any Irish proverbs involving eggs (lots involving cows, though!), but here's a pretty thorough list of seanfhocail...might be worth a look through:

I love those kind of things. I'm still reading them. Here's a good one.
Bíonn dhá insint ar scéal agus
dhá leagan déag ar amhrán.
There are two versions to a story and
twelve arrangements to a song.

Sounds like an opinion on the war between the sexes to me.
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

Grandma was itching for a war but we all had the sense to just let it fly by.
