Serve Extra Cold?

Serve Extra Cold?
We recently got some bottled Guiness Draught (isn't bottled draught a total oxymoron?). I just looked at one of the bottles and noticed that they recommend to "serve extra cold"... what's up with that?

Who ever looked for instructions on a can of beer?

Kind of strange that there are warnings, instructions, advertisement, etc, but unlike any other food item, it doesn't have a list of ingredients.
Cold dulls the taste buds, but with that widget thing and the release of N2 it might help the gas dissolve. The word "Extra" seems to be marketing, and if they wanted to tell people an optimal temperature, they would give a proper temperature range. If they wanted to add yet another gimmick they could put a thermometer strip on the bottle.
Frankly, I am surprised that the nitrogen technology has not made it into other soft drinks like root beer.

the bartenders always asked if I'd like it "Regular
or Extra Cold?"? I think the directions on the can
is just a sly nod to this part of the brand identity.

Right. It's not as annoying to have it warmed up by the heat from the transmission under the drink holder, either.
I am surprised that more people do not think of these things.
