Good grief. "Can't stand Fawlty Towers..." how does that work? :boggle:

I knew too many schoolmasters Like Basil Fawlty.

I liked M. Hulot's holiday, though. If the badminton shuttles won't obey us, we still do the thing with the raquets. It works!

Nope, not an MV ,but a 1973 Ducati 750 GT 'Special' ..I built it up from 5 boxes of rusty parts.... it ..

By the way, this post is not any dig at the church or anything like that....It would have been equally funny if it had been Barack Obama, our own Kevin Rudd or anyone else accustomed to having people kneel before them... ( not that Kev or Barack are that way inclined ! )
post a BIG picture somewhere; gotta see it

What we all need at this point in the thread is a booster dose of 'Ripping Yarns.'

I liked Fawlty towers when it first aired, I really cannot stand the repeats when they are shown these days, Basil Fawlty really annoys me now.
Mr. Bean is another, he really grates on me, I like absurd comedy but not of the Mr Bean kind.
Monty Python is a classic, although there are a lot of sketches from their original TV series that are really excruciating to watch because they just don't work, not even on the 'absurd' level.
Ripping Yarns? Some beauties in there, 'Golden Gordon', 'Tomkinsons(?) schooldays' and the one about the prisoner of war camp (I can't think of it's title).
