Weird De Dannan album cover art
It's a picture of three violas da gamba, a harp, and an 'early music' flute in something like A or B flat. Not one of the incarnations of De Dannan featured these instruments. The art director on this must have devoted a three or four minutes to finding the right stock image.
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

Yer gettin' mighty critical in yer old age. Welcome to my world. But it does seem a distant match. What bothered me is that they apparently covered the insipid "Hey Jude." That song always made me wince.
How do you prepare for the end of the world?

No, what's really weird is the song list:
Maggie, My Irish Molly-O, Kitty's Wedding, and...Hey Jude?

It's sort of like those budget label bluegrass anthologies that picture a tenor banjo on the cover.

That is interesting. I'm having trouble identifying that rubbery-looking thing strapping the instruments together. I feel as though I should recognize it. Some kind of belt for a motor? Why would someone want do that? Is it even a good idea?

Re: Weird De Dannan album cover art
Perhaps he thought the music is a pile of old rubbish because the top viola's bridge is laying on top of the strings as though it is broken and 'chucked' away with the old fan belt etc. Perhaps in his opinion, he thought it was a good representation of the varied and rubbish content of the CD.

Write them. Ask them the significance of this album art. They would love that someone who cares asked. Tell us what they said. If you're chicken, let me know. I'll do it for you.

De Dannans version of Hey Jude was ripped off from Nashville band "Area Code 615"...emmline wrote:No, what's really weird is the song list:

Wow. I've really had enough Beatles for the rest of my days for starters, much less inventive plagiarized covers.dubhlinn wrote:De Dannans version of Hey Jude was ripped off from Nashville band "Area Code 615"...emmline wrote:No, what's really weird is the song list:

That's a picture of an old carving, wasn't it on some old Irish money? I think it's the carving that's in St. Michan's church in Dublin; I think it's where Handel first played the Messiah.

Re: Weird De Dannan album cover art
It's about my favorite rendition of Hey Jude. The band leader was kind of taken with the tune, if I recall correctly.
