Phineas Gage, the man used by our Esteemed Leader to warn us against whistling while driving, is the subject of an article in the latest Smithsonian magazine:
http://www.smithsonianmag.com/history-a ... tient.html
A photograph of a man believed to be the disfigured Gage, holding what appears to be the metal rod that went through his eye and brain, is the subject of the story. Interesting facts about the changes in personality Gage apparently went through.
Don't drive while whistling!

Funny, I've seen the photo before, and I could swear well before the discovery dates mentioned in the article. Must be my own brain dysfunction.

He was a handsome feller, wasn't he? Too bad the brain-piercing mucked him all up.

Yeah, but I bet he dang near had the rolls, cuts and taps figured out. Maybe if he had an airbag things would have turned out better.

I thought the same thing, Emm. Amazing story, though.
