That seems to be the implication.I.D.10-t wrote:So it is based off of the .deb package format?fearfaoin wrote:Goobuntu
Oh, of course, there's already a Wikipedia page for ChromeOS:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrome_os
"Google has stated that the Chrome OS is separate from its
Google Android operating system, which was designed primarily
for use on smartphones."
I didn't realize they were limiting Android in that way.
Google wants to replace XWindows with something new for
ChromeOS. It's about time something replaced that poor old
dinosaur.

Pretty well. When I travel, I use Skype to avoid missing my wife so much. Works well. Ditto with videos. I mean, it's not the fastest machine on the planet, but it gets the job done.tansy wrote:how does the eee do for things like skype, hulu, videos, etc. ?

Yeah, I have the same machine. I'm actually looking at the new generation of Dell netbooks.Jayhawk wrote:

How long did it take them to notice that "wince" didn't have quite the right cachet?fearfaoin wrote: In response, Microsoft created an OS called WinCE (now called Windows Mobile) ...
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

Corporations can have pretty big blind spots in areas like that. Whoever created and now runs the "Super 8" motel chain can't have ever said the name out loud, for instance.s1m0n wrote:How long did it take them to notice that "wince" didn't have quite the right cachet?fearfaoin wrote: In response, Microsoft created an OS called WinCE (now called Windows Mobile) ...

I loved calling it "wince". People woulds1m0n wrote:How long did it take them to notice that "wince" didn't have quite the right cachet?
laugh and then I'd express surprise that
that wasn't how everyone said it...
I figured they were going for a "super rate".herbivore12 wrote:Whoever created and now runs the "Super 8" motel chain can't have ever said the name out loud, for instance.
